Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans – Celebrating Scottish History

John Knox, a former Roman Catholic priest from Scotland who studied with Calvin in Geneva, Switzerland, took Calvin’s teachings back to Scotland and led the Scottish Reformation of 1560.  As a result, the Church of Scotland embraced Reformed theology and presbyterian polity.  On Sunday, November 17th, First Presbyterian took a moment to celebrate our church’s Scottish heritage with members wearing their tartan and music provided by bagpiper Scott Beach.   Scott remarked how awesome it was to work with Worship Arts Director Mary Dailey, and then he said he felt so welcomed by our church family and felt “like he was in a cocoon from the outside world where all the hate and divisiveness is!”  What praises for our church family!
