On Monday, June 24, our small but mighty group had a wonderful time getting to know each other, learning about and ringing the church bell, meeting the crew of Engine 11 of South Metro Fire Rescue, and playing outdoor games!
Five grandparents and 5 children refused to let the heat of the morning dampen their opportunity to share about their favorite summertime activities and frozen treats, ask the fire crew all of their questions (SO many wonderful questions!) or cool off in the shade of the big tree with snacks and water games. The snacks included “firehose” fruit roll ups, “fire pole” pretzel rods, and “fire engine red” delicious apple slices!
Both the kids and grandparents joined in the fun and “refreshing” fire bucket water brigade relay and a friendly ladder ball competition to wrap up the morning activities.
Loads of gratitude to Adonna Hipple for her vision and energy to develop this program and to secure the amazing program ideas. Special thanks also to the wonderful team of volunteers who worked together to create a fun and welcoming event to support the families in attendance!
