Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

A MINUTE FOR STEWARDSHIP - PER CAPITA

1 Corinthians 12:18-20, NIV "But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.”

This month we celebrate the ways in which our gathering together makes Christ’s church possible. One of these ways is through our generous support of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in the form of per capita gifts. These gifts are part of our call to be one church, one community. Per capita in 2025 is once again $32 per member (membership based on FPCL’s statistical report to Denver Presbytery). This annual contribution is divided the following way:
  • 60% stays to support Denver Presbytery
  • 30% supports the General Assembly
  • 10% supports the Rocky Mountain Synod

Many of you may remember that in past years we have included a spot on the pledge card for per capita but our committee decided instead to simply inform the members of this offering opportunity and hope that they (you) would consider this as part of your annual pledge. FPCL pays the amount due in full regardless of member support, so it is truthfully an annual expense in the operating budget. For example, this year’s budgeted expense is $7,008 based on membership of 219. Traditionally, FPCL receives less than half of that amount. In 2024, FPCL paid $8,000 in per Capita and received only $1,304 from members. As this demonstrates an increase to your per capita contributions would really help trim that expense and prevent a significant gap in the budget.
We hope that you’ll consider sending a per capita payment this year as we remember all that we can accomplish. Simply choose the Per Capita drop-down option on our online giving page or note “Per Capita” on the memo line of your check or offering envelope.

Thanks in advance for your consideration and see you in church!

Why we give.

God is generous and seeking to emulate God, we strive to be generous as well.  What we do with what God entrusts to us illustrates where our hearts are and is a way we proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.

Giving comes in many forms and the method is less important than the willingness and desire to give from the heart with joy.
